The FIG Commission 3 chaired by Dr. Chryssy Poutsiou has a Working Group devoted to Spatial Data Infrastructure.
The Working Plan has been been drafted and discussed. The Hungarian participant of the workshop accepted the invitation to take part in the activities lead by Paul Kelly from Australia and the Professor of the Mainz University Dr. Helmut . Dr Szabolcs Mihaly was also invited to the actions drafted by Robin McLaren

EUMETNET's meteoalarm portal introduced in Hungary

Alerting Europe for Extreme Weather - meteoalarm portal of EUMETNET announced



At the occasion of the celebration of the World Met Day 2007, President of the Hungarian Met Service Dr. Zoltán Dunkel announced the establishment and operation of the web portal "meteoalarm" (www.meteoalarm.eu ) ,which was initiated by more than 20 European National Met Services.


The participants received a set of press releases containing also the message of WMO Secretary General Michel Jarraud.

WMO hosts the GEO Secretariat in Geneva.

Having experience in the international collaboration since 1873 providing and exchanging data, the Hungarian Met Service (www.met.hu ) is one of the major stakeholder of the UN SDI Hungarian Coordination Office.

Time window for the visite of the Chinese Delegation announced

Coming Visit of the Chinese SDI Coordination Committee representatives in Hungary
According to a recent communication of Mr. Xue of the administration of the Agriculture and Environment Branch at the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences, they appreciate the readiness of HUNAGI/UNSDI HUCO to arrange technical programme for the Chinese Delegation. They have the intention to take a 12-day technical tour in Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary starting from May 14 to May 25, 2007.

ePSIplus portal on UNSDI Global Partner Meeting referred the Hungarian contribution

Geospatial informatics related activities of UNSDI HUCO is now supervised also by the Research and Technology Agency of the Hungarian Government
General Deputy President Dr. Ilona Vass of the National Office for Research and Technology nominated the representative of the Office for the Steering Committee of UNSDI HUCO in her letter dated March 8, 2007.
The liasion officer is Mrs. Gabriella Mihály-Csaba. The Office is located in the new Research Park of Lágymányos: 1117 Budapest, Neumann Jánosu. 1/c.

Chilean Minister shown interest on TeIR

Territorial information systems from Chile and Hungary were introduced


Dr. Volker Liebig , Head of ESA-ESRIN and H.E. Mrs. Romy Schmidt, Minister of National Goods, President of the Council of Ministers for the National System for Coordination of Territorial Information (SNIT) held the Welcome addresses at the 1st UN SDI Global Partner Meeting held in Frascati between 1-2 March 2007.

In Chile, a degree of standardisation and interoperability was achieved in the context of SNIT and the definition of the following core data components is beeing developed: reference system, hydrography, infrastructure, relief, political administrative bounderies, toponimy and ortho imageries. For the SNIT Metadata Catalogue the ISO 19115 metadata standard has been adopted. A complete set of information on SNIT has been collected for VATI and FÖMI. More on SNIT: www.snit.cl
VÁTI, core stakeholder of UNSDI HUCO, provided an A0 size poster devoted to TeIR, the Hungarian Territorial Information System. The poster was frequently visited by the participants and even the Chilean Minister shown interest listening the summary of the system given by the Head of HUCO in front of the poster.
TeIR and its three features related to SDI were introduced also in the formal presentation of HUCO in the plenary session. The flyers prepared by Térinformatika Journal and HUNAGI were partly disseminated to selected participants, partly were displayed for take-away.
