Mission goals and strategic priorities include: Act according to the European Commission INSPIRE principles and coordinate with the UNSDI development process. Support national/cross-border implementation of the INSPIRE Directive. Awareness raising on SDI at political level. Strengthen cohesion between stakeholders and other interested parties ie. public services, SMEs and SDICs. Provide synergies in local, regional, national and global dimensions with outreach towards EU neighbouring countries

UNSDI HUCO invited to UNGIWG-9 in Vienna, Austria

Coordinator of the UNSDI HUCO received invitation letter from UNGIWG Co-Chairs Ms. Alta Haggarty, Deputy Chief, Advocacy and Information Management Branch (AIMB) of UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Mr. Karl Steinacker of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to take part on the forthcoming UNGIWG-9 Plenary will be held in Vieanna Austria between 5-8, November 2008.
At UNGIWG-9 members will be called upon to elect new Co-chairs for 2009-10. It is expected that more then 30 UN agencies, departments, funds and local, national or regional partners are expected to attend UNGIWG-9.
